Results showed significant improvements (p < .0001) in average symptom ratings across 15 major problem areas, including anxiety, mood disturbance, attentional problems, fatigue, pain, and sleep problems, after an average of only 20 treatments.
Direct Neurofeedback System is a biofeedback procedure developed in 2006 that uses feedback in the form of a radio frequency carrier wave to treat various conditions. While clinical evidence supports the efficacy of DNF, no study has evaluated its treatment across a spectrum of disorders with a significantly large sample. To address this, a study was conducted on the first 100 patients from approximately 300 case files that had received at least 10 treatment sessions, completed an initial CNS questionnaire, and had session-by-session subjective symptom ratings (SSRF) obtained.
Results showed significant improvements (p < .0001) in average symptom ratings across 15 major problem areas, including anxiety, mood disturbance, attentional problems, fatigue, pain, and sleep problems, after an average of only 20 treatments. The drop in EEG amplitude at the highest amplitude electrode site (HAS; p < .0001) was also significant. DNF treatment appears to be very efficient and effective in rapidly reducing a wide range of symptoms, particularly producing rapid improvements in the first five to six sessions. Further research is recommended.
